This is a great and intuitive Stack and Reach calculator. Thanks Geometry Geeks! One suggestion - how about a stem calculator that tells the change in HX and HY when you change length, angle and spacer value? ttbikefit.com used to have one but it's old and needs a Flash plugin to work ... and Flash went away.
I've been using motion capture and a separate fit bike (first that motorized Guru DFU, now a Purely Custom) to perform Bike Finder fits for nine years. It's the best way to take the guesswork out of choosing the right bike size, manufacturer, category and configuration. Otherwise, you're just leaving it to a good guess by a salesperson at a bike shop. With integrated bar/stem combos and internal Di2 wiring, it's even more important to get the bike and the fit right BEFORE the bike is bought and built up. Trust me, I've saved a lot of people a lot of potential time and frustration by having them try out different fit combinations beforehand.
There are systems out there, including some I use such as VelogicFit, that spit out your optimal bike based on body measurements or coordinates, and they aren't terrible, but doing this right - interpreting the numbers and how it will apply to the final ride experience - is a lot of art.
So, if you're a fellow geometry geek out there who loves to crunch the numbers, realize, too, that the opportunity to have yourself fit beforehand - to get your optimal Stack and Reach numbers - before you start comparing geometries is so invaluable.
