Velo Atelier is the home of the Clinical Bike-fit Protocol, created by Lee Prescott in co-operation with several world class Chiropractors and osteopaths. Lee has over 25 years of experience designing bikes, ridden by world champions and club riders alike. The experience garnered from years of measuring and fitting riders for bespoke frames and designing production frame geometries, has informed this data validated and personally tailored method of fitting.
We are all different in requirements, goals and needs. Our approach is to fully assess each client as an individual and to then provide a clear plan to meet your targets. We start with an Initial Assessment, where we look at your lifestyle and relevant medical history, assess your range and quality of movement and then check your shoe and cleat set up. Then we warm you up on your bike and give you a 3km ride where we measure and assess your current position, using video analysis, saddle pressure mapping, power transfer analysis, weight distribution and a good measure of experience.
From this assessment we can then devise your personal fitting plan. Bike fit is a process not a event! Your fit needs to move as your body changes. From that point we charge by the hour so you only pay for the time you need, rather than a prescribed bike fit that you may not fully need. Also by being able to spread out any changes we can check that each change has worked and is giving the benefit we wanted. The plan can then be adjusted to suit as you move forward.
We don't just adjust your bike though. Quite often the part that needs adjusting the most is your body, which is why we have partnered with a team of world class sports clinicians to help you reach your targets. whether it is a simple sports massage to aid recovery or a session with an osteopath to realign your pelvis, you would be amazed what a dramatic effect this integrated approach can have on your comfort and performance.
